I have just returned from the fantastic Kubu & Kwena session where I had the privilege of hosting/guiding a group of 11 clients. The team chirp was “this was a drinking holiday with a fishing problem” but let me assure you, this bunch of fine okes managed 7 Zambezi Slams out of the 11 anglers!
For those not too sure the Zambezi Slam is landing a Tiger, Nembwe and Barbel all on the same day. Many tigers and barbel were landed throughout the trip but I have never seen so many Nembwe landed in one trip! In fact this has been the season of the Nembwe with 80% of our clients landing this awesome predatory bream species.
The river is warming up and the fishing is definitely “on fire” after a rather challenging May-July season. Average temps during the day were in the region of 32c so we are firmly in the grip of a Zambezi spring/summer season.

Please note: Sian Simba is a “combo lodge” and is situated in the Zambezi National Park, close to Victoria Falls. Activities include excellent game viewing and fishing and we fish in a section of the Zambezi that we also use for our Vic Falls day fishing activities. We know the fishing is good however due to the rivers rocky structure (its not the Barotse) it is not known for “trophy” sized tigers.

This was my third trip to Ichingo and I decided to do it alone. They never fail to impress. In fact I must say that i cannot find one thing i could even think about where i was not happy. They always go totally out of their way to keep one smiling during your stay. Great to see Cassius in his new position as host and a fine job he is doing and as i could not use him as my guide Robert was the man and a fantastic guide he was.
